Alexandria, VA – Public Opinion Strategies is pleased to announce that Vice Presidents Jim Hobart and Micah Roberts have been promoted to partner at the firm.
Hobart and Roberts started with the firm on the same day in 2007 and have quickly moved through the company’s ranks due to their sharp minds, tireless work ethic, and commitment to giving data-driven advice and counsel to countless clients.
Over the past five election cycles, Hobart has been a part of the polling team in some of the most competitive and important elections in the country. His work helped Republicans take the House in 2010, the Senate in 2014, and preserve both majorities in the years that followed. Hobart received the prestigious Rising Star Award from Campaign and Elections Magazine
in 2013.
In 2016, Hobart helped lead the polling for a successful independent expenditure effort in the Pennsylvania Senate race, which was the largest outside effort in any Senate race in the country. Hobart also worked for numerous winning campaigns at the statewide, Congressional, and local levels, as well as regularly appearing on NPR, CNN, and the BBC to comment on the Presidential race.
In addition to his political work, Hobart has extensive public affairs experience, conducting the research for major policy efforts focused on issues ranging from education to energy. He has also helped lead the polling on projects for numerous Fortune 100 companies.
“Jim has been an integral part of the Public Opinion Strategies team for the past five election cycles. He has been a major contributor to campaigns that helped defeat Democrats at the Senatorial, Gubernatorial, and Congressional level. I have no doubt that Jim will continue to contribute to winning Republican campaigns in the years to come and we are thrilled to welcome him to the partnership,” said Public Opinion Strategies founding partner Glen Bolger.
Since January 2010, Roberts has managed The Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll and is the Republican half of the bi-partisan team that conducts polling on economic trends for CNBC. Roberts frequently appears on cable news shows to discuss the findings from these polls.
Roberts’ primary focus has been directing research for national policy initiatives on behalf of the firm’s Fortune 500 clientele and the industry associations who represent them in Washington, DC. These clients include the National Association of REALTORS®, The American Beverage Association, the International Franchise Association, the National Confectioners Association, and CTIA – The Wireless Association, among others.
In addition to his public affairs work, Roberts has experience conducting political research, including five successful ballot initiatives. He has also conducted extensive research in dozens of Congressional and Senatorial campaigns across the country.
“It has been a pleasure watching Micah’s development and growth in the field, becoming today among the elite in public policy related research. Micah brings deep background in a variety of methodologies, has been quick to apply new research ideas and formats into client research, is insightful, and has a low key, collaborative way of working here internally and with clients that makes him both well liked and very effective. I am looking forward to him taking an even larger role with our clients and inside our firm,” said Public Opinion Strategies founding partner Bill McInturff.
Public Opinion Strategies has established itself as a specialist in message development in the arena of public affairs campaigns and for some of the most complex public policy battles of the last decade. Public Opinion Strategies’ political clients include twelve U.S. Senators, more than 60 members of Congress, six Governors, and numerous State Legislators and local elected officials across the country. The firm is also part of the bi-partisan research team that conducts the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll and the quarterly CNBC All-America Economic Survey.
