Jim-HobartJim Hobart is a Partner at Public Opinion Strategies, a national political and public affairs research firm. Described by The New York Times as “the leading Republican polling company” in the country, Public Opinion Strategies’ political clients include 12 U.S. Senators, more than 60 members of Congress, six Governors, and numerous State Legislators and local elected officials across the country. The firm is also part of the bi-partisan research team that conducts the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Over the past four election cycles, Jim has been a part of the polling team in some of the most competitive and important elections in the country and in 2013, he received the prestigious Rising Star Award from Campaign and Elections Magazine.

In 2016, Jim and Glen Bolger were the pollsters for a successful independent expenditure effort in the Pennsylvania Senate race, which was the largest outside effort in any Senate race in the country.

Jim also polled for an independent expenditure effort in the Iowa Senate race, a winning Congressional race, two successful ballot measures, and a significant research project geared toward helping Republicans make inroads with female voters. He also made regular appearances on NPR, CNN, and the BBC to comment on campaign politics.

In the public affairs arena, Jim was part of major research efforts focused on education and energy.

In 2014, Jim’s work was focused on Independent Expenditure efforts that helped Republicans win a decisive majority in the U.S. Senate and expand their majority in the U.S. House.

Jim worked to conduct polling on behalf of SuperPACs in winning Senate campaigns in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, and Kansas. Jim also conducted polling on the behalf of IE efforts in eleven winning U.S. House campaigns.

Jim also was a part of the polling team for a victorious statewide ballot initiative campaign in Tennessee and on more than 10 winning local initiative campaigns.

In 2012, Jim directed the research for two new Republican members of Congress, as well as for the Republican Governor’s Association Independent Expenditure campaign in North Carolina, the only gubernatorial campaign in the country to change partisan control. Jim was also the project director for the successful campaign to defeat Proposal Two in Michigan, which played a key role in Michigan becoming a Right to Work State just one month later.

Additionally, Jim was the project director for all of the polling done on behalf of Restore Our Future, as well as a member of the polling team for American Crossroads.

Along with his political work, Jim also has a significant amount of corporate and public affairs polling experience. He has directed the research on projects for numerous Fortune 100 clients, including Bank of America, Wal-Mart, and Verizon.
